The film tells the absurd story of how, in October 1930, a group of senior officers in the Finnish army decided to kidnap Finland’s first president, Ståhlberg, during a night of heavy drinking. The kidnapping went wrong at the very beginning, when the incompetent couriers recruited for the job had to take the stubborn president’s wife, Ester Ståhlberg, along for the ride. This was the beginning of an incredible series of events, the full, unvarnished truth of which has not been revealed to this day.
